Refugee (Refugee album)

''Refugee'' was the self-titled and only album of Refugee. The album was originally issued on Charisma Records in March 1974. It was re-released under the TimeWave label on 27 June 2006.〔(Prog-Rock/Art Rock - Refugee Refugee / CD / 1974 )〕 A live album ''Refugee Live in concert. Newcastle City Hall 1974'' was published in 2007 on Voiceprint Label, it contains two songs from The Nice era, ''The diamond hard blue apples of the moon'' and the Bob Dylan song ''She belongs to me'' as well as songs from the studio album from Refugee.
The title of the track "Ritt Mickley" originated from Moraz's strong French Swiss accent when he asked other band members to play the track again but more rhythmically.〔Welch, C. (1999), ''Close To the Edge – The Story Of Yes'', Omnibus Press.〕
==Background==
When Keith Emerson left The Nice to form another band with Greg Lake and Carl Palmer, Lee Jackson and Brian Davison found themselves on their own, so they went their separate ways, Davison formed The Brian Davison's Every Which Way and Lee formed Jackson Heights. After recording their fourth album ''Bump n' grind'', Jackson approached Patrick Moraz to ask him if he would be interested to join his band Jackson Heights, but the keyboardist refused, proposing Lee to form another band with him instead. And so Refugee was born after Lee Jackson called his old band-mate from The Nice, Brian Davison to join on drums.
